Barnet councillor admits assault

Brian Coleman, who was once chair of the London Assembly, the mayor of Barnet and led the Fire Authority, has pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman over a parking row.

The former Tory councillor, who was suspended over the charges, had originally denied claims that he had scratched and injured Helen Michael who had been filming him breaking parking rules in Finchley High Road, north London.

BBC London reporter Gareth Furby spoke with Ms Michael, court observer Roger Tichborne and Barnet resident Theresa Musgrove.
