Lord Mayor of London Roger Gifford sworn in

Eight hundred years ago this year the first Lord Mayor of London ended his term in office and on Friday it was the turn of the 685th Lord Mayor, Roger Gifford, to be sworn in.

The merchant banker says he will spend his year in office trying to improve the image of the industry and selling London to the world.

BBC London's Karl Mercer was given access to the special Silent Ceremony, which has only been filmed once before - 75 years ago.
