Peter Tapsell to fight royal succession laws

A Lincolnshire MP has said he is to fight plans to change the way British kings and queens are chosen.

Conservative MP for Louth and Horncastle Sir Peter Tapsell said the current law making boys automatically first in line for the throne should not change.

He said under the new law passed by the Commonwealth and under discussion in Parliament, Queen Victoria's son Edward VII would never have become king and the crown would have eventually gone to her grandson - Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Look North's Political Editor Tim Iredale explains.
