Serviceman fraudster was not 'harmless' says ex-soldier

A former soldier has said Simon Buckden, who admitted lying about having cancer and his exploits in the military to garner money, was not 'harmless'.

Phil Lee said many people were genuinely afraid of the man.

Buckden, 44, pretended to have been diagnosed with rectal cancer in an attempt to gather sympathy and cash.

He had denied six counts of fraud and was on trial at Leeds Crown Court but changed his plea to guilty during proceedings.
