Leeds teenager to receive father's kidney after mother's failed

A teenager is to receive a kidney from his father after one donated by his mother started to fail.

Akash Suryavansi, 17, from Harehills, Leeds, was born with kidney dysplasia and had dialysis until he was six.

After 11 years with one of his mother's kidneys, he had to return to dialysis and was put on the transplant waiting list.

However, Akash's medical team confirmed his father could now donate one of his own kidneys following advances in medicine since the first transplant.
