West Yorkshire fire service seeking female recruits

West Yorkshire Fire and rescue Service has held taster sessions in an attempt to recruit more women firefighters.

The initiative is part of a plan to boost the number of retained firefighters in the county.

The chairwoman of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority, Labour councillor Judith Hughes said she hoped a new, more flexible contract for part-time staff would "attract a more diverse cross-section of the community to apply".
