Gillian Metcalf Brazil boat death: Firm admits liability

A travel firm has admitted full liability over the death of a Kent woman killed in a boating tragedy in Brazil three years ago.

Gillian Metcalfe, from Tenterden, was celebrating her 50th birthday with her family when she died on the Rio Negro river in September 2013.

Two Brazilian boat drivers have been convicted of manslaughter for their role in the incident,

The admission by Audley Travel opens the door for compensation.

Mrs Metcalf's widower, Charlie, said the long delay had caused the family a great deal of pain.
