Operation Stack: Driver calls for free permanent lorry park

A lorry driver says a new free lorry park is needed all year round, and not just when Operation Stack is in force.

The chancellor George Osborne has allocated £250m to deal with the disruption caused in Kent by Operation Stack.

Chris Cary from Rochester, told BBC Radio Kent if lorry drivers were going to be charged to park they would stop in lay-bys and industrial areas instead.

He said: "Throughout Europe you don't pay for parking."
