Hate crime: 'Calling me filthy, dirty tranny'

Evie Heston, from Kent, who is transgender, was abused and threatened by her neighbour in November 2014.

In March, a woman pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour intended to cause harassment, alarm and distress.

She was given an 18-month conditional discharge.

Ms Heston spoke to BBC Radio Kent after figures showed almost 1,000 hate crimes were reported to Kent Police in the past year.
