Vital signs app 'saves many lives' in Portsmouth

Doctors in Portsmouth say they are saving hundreds of lives a year thanks to a new way of recording a patient's vital signs.

Observations like pulse readings and blood pressure are being entered on smart phones and handheld computers.

The specially-developed software automatically calculates if there is a problem.

It is claimed it buys medical staff extra time to step in and treat patients sooner.
