Equitable Life compensation not paid to pensioners

More than 10,000 people across the south of England have failed to claim compensation agreed by the government after an investment company went bust.

A fifth of the 1.5 million Equitable Life customers have not been traced, and after 2015 it will be too late for pensioners to get the money.

John and Marie Harper, from Southampton, described the experience as "terrible" but have now received £5,000 from HM Treasury.
