Bristol landlord advised to double flat's rent

A Bristol landlord says he was advised to increase the rent on his one-bed flat from £350 to £690 a month, when his tenant moved out last year.

Mohammed Rafiq told BBC Points West a letting agent suggested the rise, which he thought was "phenomenal", on the flat in Ashley Down.

Bristol and Brighton had the highest rent rises in Britain in 2015 - an average of 18% - according to reports.

Scott Ellis reports.
