Royal Engineers soldier shot in eye 'lucky to be alive'

A former soldier from Essex has spoken of the moment a bullet went through his eye, missing his brain stem by millimetres.

Sam Stock was injured by friendly fire while in Afghanistan, serving with the Royal Engineers.

He is one of the faces of this year's Poppy Appeal.

"I'm very lucky to be alive," he said.
