Alresford to have DNA testing of dogs and waste

DNA testing of dog poo has been backed by parish councillors in a bid to stop dog fouling in an Essex village.

Villagers in Alresford, near Brightlingsea, want to take action to deter pet owners who do not clear up after their animals.

On Wednesday night the parish council backed plans to see DNA testing of dogs and faeces.

However, swabbing of dogs would require the owner's consent and would not be compulsory.
