Fixing a Devon tortoise with a broken shell

Dora the giant tortoise was suffering from a broken shell.

So vets at Paignton Zoo in Devon swung into action to patch her up with a rarely-used technique involving a vacuum strapped to the wound.

The Vacuum Assisted Closure is normally used on humans but for Dora it worked a treat and she is now back on her feet, albeit taking things very slowly.
