Award for young Derby hospital volunteers

Young volunteers at two Derby hospitals have won the Health Service Journal 2013 Award for Compassionate Patient Care.

More than 100 teenagers from six different schools volunteer at the Royal Derby Hospital and London Road Community Hospital.

Matron Lorraine Hourd, from Royal Derby Hospital, said the teenagers talk to patients, take part in activities with them and help with meal times.

Senior sister Linda Murphy said their help has been invaluable.

BBC East Midlands Today's Angelina Socci reports.
