Swindale Beck: Meanders restored to help salmon breed

Natural meanders have been restored to Swindale Beck near Haweswater to create the right conditions for salmon to lay their eggs.

Within a few months of the work, conservation works have seen signs of the salmon breeding on banks of gravel, or redds, that have formed now the water flows more slowly.
