Woodchip plant powers Workington paper mill
A Cumbrian paper mill has said that its new £108m bio-fuels plant will make it energy self-sufficient.
The facility at Iggesund Paperboard in Workington burns woodchips to produce heat and electricity, and is also providing new opportunities for local farmers.
One of them, Ronnie Wilkinson, has already set aside one third of his farm, near Carlisle, to grow willow as a biomass fuel.
