Newquay police patrol beaches on electric scooters

Devon and Cornwall Police have unveiled their new mode of transport - a pair of electric scooters.

The equipment - fitted with off-road tyres - will propel officers around Newquay's beaches.

The force said they will help officers find missing children and deal with low-level crime.

The scooters have been lent to the force for free by the company Segway. If the pilot project is successful, they could be rolled out around the country.
