Bristol family facing Christmas without a home

A family from Bristol say they have been forced to face homelessness, just two weeks before Christmas.

Katie Sobol and her family have lived in their rented house for nine years, benefitting from a cheaper rate, but the landlord is now selling the property and the family says they have been unable to find anywhere else to rent which they can afford.

According to figures obtained by the BBC, across the West of England nearly 2,000 households in the following areas are currently living in emergency or temporary accommodation:

  • Bristol: 1191
  • Wiltshire: 468
  • Gloucestershire: 156
  • Somerset: 148
  • Bath: 26
