The decades-long search for the Bristol Hum

The Bristol Hum - a mysterious low-level noise that only some in the city can hear - is back in the headlines.

But did it ever go away? As far back as April 1980, Bristol's environmental health officers were using noise monitoring equipment to try to track down the source.

More than 100 complaints had been made - one inspector told BBC Points West, in this archive footage from April 1980.
