Erdington chip shop has Christmas spirit wrapped up for homeless

It is not everyone whose festive food shopping list includes 20 litres of gravy - but that is what a charitable chip shop proprietor is planning.

Asef Faqiri is cooking a Christmas Day lunch for homeless people.

He says he has no idea how many will turn up for traditional festive fare at Classic Fish Bar, which he runs with brother Hamid in Erdington, Birmingham.

The takeaway meals - with chips replacing turkey on request - will be available from the shop on Erdington High Street between 13:00 and 16:00 GMT.
