Dad's burns inspire teenage son to new doctor mentor scheme

A teenager whose dad was badly burned in an industrial accident is among 100 young people on a new scheme to help them become doctors.

Dean Elsmore, from Wednesbury, is on a mentoring course organised by Aston University and funded by the former Aston Villa chairman, Sir Doug Ellis. The university is hoping to offering 20 places to youngsters on the scheme when it opens a new medical school in 2018.
