Fireworks and eggs thrown at police van in Birmingham

Fireworks and eggs were thrown at a police van responding to reports of anti-social behaviour.

The van, which had a number of neighbourhood officers inside, was forced to pull over by Balsall Heath park in Birmingham after it was hit by a "volley of fireworks and pelted with eggs," the West Midlands force said.

Officers were called to the area in Taunton road on the evening of 22 October.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of public order offences and criminal damage and five other teenagers were spoken to.

A temporary dispersal order for the area was put in place to deter any further anti-social behaviour.
