Writing is on the wall for offenders thanks to cell graffiti

An open letter by a former serial offender has been used in the hope of deterring others from a life of crime.

West Midlands Police has transcribed the supportive message on to cell walls in Solihull as part of a behavioural science experiment.

The force has been working with psychologists on trials aimed at "nudging" people away from reoffending.

"Nudging" is the idea that small interventions can significantly alter decision-making.
