Do drivers over 70 need re-testing?

There are now more than four million drivers over the age of 70 and that figure is increasing fast - by 10,000 every month.

So is it time to introduce medical checks or even another test?

Angela Rippon has been investigating.

It comes after an 88-year-old driver ploughed through the window of a hairdressers in Wordsley, West Midlands, after losing control of her car and police stopped a car travelling the wrong way along the M6 Toll, driven by a 77-year-old man with dementia who had been reported missing from his home.

More on this on Inside Out West Midlands, at 19:30 on BBC One on Monday 25 January.
