Police chase 80mph drunk driver on Midlands motorway
West Midlands Police have released a video of a drunk driver swerving across the M5, as forces begin the Christmas anti-drink drive campaign.
The driver, who was 34 years old and from Shrewsbury, was filmed in October hitting speeds of over 80 mph (128 km/h).
Officers pursued him on the M5 from near Frankley Services, Worcestershire, to junction two at Oldbury in the West Midlands. Police said they released the video to illustrate the dangers of driving while over the limit.
The Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG), which is an alliance between West Midlands, West Mercia and Staffordshire Police, said they would be targeting motorists believed to be under the influence of drink or drugs in the run-up to Christmas.
