West Midlands economy 'investing in new jobs and training'

Businesses in the West Midlands are spending more in new recruitment and training, new figures show.

The survey, by Bibby Financial Services, showed that 42% of firms in the West Midlands are taking on new staff - almost double the figure for the South East.

It also showed that 41% of West Midlands businesses were investing in training their workforces.

Bibby managing director Sharon Wiltshire said: "It's very easy nowadays to invest in technology and innovation, but actually it's the people who will drive the business forward."
