Father Joe Williams found dead at Morrisons Houghton Regis

A Catholic priest found dead in his car in a supermarket car park may have lain undiscovered for three days.

Father Joe Williams, 42, a parish priest from Luton, was at Morrisons in Houghton Regis on Monday.

The Right Reverend Peter Doyle, the Bishop of Northampton, said Father Williams was seen on CCTV locking up St Martin de Porres church in Legrave, Luton, on Friday but did not return for confessions on Saturday.

Police said they believe Father Williams died of natural causes.

An inquest is due to be opened on Thursday.
