Transport Secretary calls on RMT to end Southern strikes

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has called on the RMT union to call off planned strikes on Southern railway next week.

He said he was investing £20m to fix infrastructure problems and to provide more rapid response teams when things went wrong.

"I'm moving to address some of the other reasons this railway is not working well but I can't stop militant unions indulging in unnecessary strike action that causes misery to passengers," he said.
