Mental health care for black men in England criticised

One of the most comprehensive studies of mental health care in England ever conducted has sharply criticised provision for men of African and Caribbean heritage.

The Mental Health Task force report says there is evidence of 'systemic failure' and that black men are nearly seven times more likely to be detained under the Mental Health Act or admitted as inpatients than white men.

It also said there were serious questions about the use of force that features in some of their deaths.
