How Birmingham's NEC was born 40 years ago

The National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham is 40 today.

Back on 2 February, 1976, Pebble Mill at One featured a special outside broadcast as the Queen officially opened the venue, designed to be an international showcase for British industry.

Part of the programme looked at how the NEC was born.

The original seven exhibition halls have since expanded to 20, and today attract more than two million visitors a year.
