The story of this week's floods across northern England

Severe flooding caused by Storm Desmond brought devastation to many communities in the north-east of England and Cumbria this week.

Here is a collection of some of the scenes filmed by the BBC along with interviews with homeowners, children, volunteers and Penrith and Border MP Rory Stewart.

Despite the huge challenges, the community spirit has shone through.
