Hospital death ruling: 'My daughter wanted to come home'

A coroner has concluded the death of a 25-year-old woman in a hospital in East Yorkshire was "not a case of neglect".

Stephanie Bincliffe, from Nottingham, died from heart problems and sleep apnoea, in an assessment and treatment unit near Market Weighton in August 2013.

She had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act to the Huntercombe Hospital when she was 18.

Speaking before the return of the coroner's narrative verdict, her mother Liz and sister Jennifer said Stephanie had been "extremely distressed" and wanted to come home.

In a statement, the Huntercombe Group said: "Our thoughts and sympathies go out again to Stephanie's family for their sad loss."
