Winsford woman 'can see' after telescope eye implant

An 87-year-old woman from Winsford, Cheshire, said she was virtually blind after parts of her retina stopped working with a condition called age-related macular degeneration.

Doctors implanted a small 'telescope' into Joan Gill's eye to magnify the images in the healthy part of her retina.

Mrs Gill said she has a new lease of life since undergoing the procedure.
