Scotland Yard: Child abuse cases badly handled

The assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Martin Hewitt, told the Today programme they accept the findings of HM Inspectorate detailing "fundamental deficiencies" in the way they deal with child abuse.

He says "there are clear issues we need to address" and the Metropolitan Police are "in the process of changing our response to child protection".
