PTSD army veteran: ‘My dog stopped me from taking my life’

An army veteran suffering from PTSD revealed his specially trained dog stopped him from taking his own life on two occasions.

Mark Lawrence, who served two tours of duty in the Grenadier Guards in Northern Ireland in the late 1970s and early 1980s, witnessed comrades being injured and killed. He now suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

He told 5 live Daily’s Adrian Chiles his collie-spaniel cross can sense his moods: “I was in a dark place... and she sensed that something was going on."
