Osborne to commit £300m for transport projects in Budget

The Chancellor is set to give the government's backing to two major rail projects, the upgrading of the line between Manchester and Leeds and London's Crossrail 2 project.

He is expected to outline plans to spend £300m on transport in the North of England, where a commission is urging him to improve links quickly.
