UK floods: The river once a few metres wide now spreads up to a mile

Some 500 soldiers have now been brought in to deal with "unprecedented" flooding in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

At one point a few miles downstream from York, in Cawood near Selby, the River Ouse has spread out of its channel and filled the entire flood plain.
