Severe weather warnings issued in northern England

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes and thousands are without power after widespread flooding across parts of northern England.

In total, more than 400 flood alerts and warnings - over 30 of them severe - are in place for England, Scotland and Wales.

In Lancashire, it is thought every river reached record levels.

Some of the worst flooding is in Ribchester and Whalley with more heavy rain to come.

Judith Moritz reports.
