Minister: Fracking delays 'don't help anybody'

Ministers are to be given the power to decide whether or not to approve applications for fracking - if local authorities are deemed to be taking too long to process them.

It's a move that's proved controversial with environmental groups who say it could stop local residents from having their say.

Energy and Climate Change Secretary Amber Rudd says fracking is "a fantastic opportunity" and that delays in the planning process "don't help the community, businesses or the country."
