Undercover policing to be investigated by inquiry

A public inquiry into undercover policing has opened and will investigate the activities of the Special Demonstration Squad, the Met Police's undercover unit, set up in 1968.

Last year a review into corruption revealed claims that a police "spy" had infiltrated the family "camp" of the murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence.
