Andrew Mitchell MP: Rwanda arrest 'politically motivated'

Rwanda's intelligence chief Karenzi Karake, who is wanted in Spain for war crimes, has been arrested in London.

Gen Karake, 54, was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Saturday, and remanded in custody ahead of a court hearing on Thursday.

The Conservative MP Andrew Mitchell criticised the arrest, telling BBC Radio 4's Today programme it was "a misuse of the European Arrest Warrant system".

"It's being used for political reasons rather then judicial ones, it's political motivated," he added.
