New project aims to archive the sounds of the seaside

The crashing waves, the squawking seagulls, perhaps even an ice cream van playing in the distance.

All sounds you might hear on a day out by the sea.

Now, a new project is encouraging the public to get out to the coast and capture the sounds of the seaside, to create an audio archive for future generations at the British Library.

The BBC's Jeremy Cooke has been to Whitby to find out more.
