Why is gay marriage still not recognised in Northern Ireland?

With the recent 'yes' vote in the Republic of Ireland in favour of same sex marriage why is Northern Ireland the only part of Great Britain and Ireland where gay marriage is not recognised?

Declan Harvey reports from Belfast.
