The changing nature of policing as crime figures fall

Crime remains at record low levels in England and Wales, despite some increases as a result of changes in how police record incidents.

An increasing proportion of officer time is now spent working with social services and other agencies to prevent harm.

The BBC's Mark Easton spent the day with Surrey Police to see what a typical police force day looks like.
