Tougher laws to tackle slavery

Religious leaders and police chiefs from around the world have met in London to discuss how best to tackle human trafficking.

It is estimated that modern slavery generates more than £20bn in annual profit for criminals, with 10-12,000 people affected in the UK alone.

The government wants to introduce new laws including harsher penalties for those who benefit from human trafficking.
