'A considerable number of people have been trafficked'

Up to 13,000 people in the UK are being held in conditions of slavery, four times the number previously thought, according to an estimate of the figure by the Home Office.

But speaking on the Today programme the director of Anti-Slavery International Aidan McQade said that existing measures to protect victims were not good enough.

He told the programme that quite a considerable number of British people have been trafficked within the UK borders and overseas,

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Saturday 29 November.
