Abuse victims 'will be listened to' says S Yorks police

Assistant Chief Constable Ingrid Lee of South Yorkshire police insists abuse victims in the area "will be taken seriously and will be listened to".

A report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary concluded the force's response to abuse victims was not good enough not only in Rotherham, but across the cities in their jurisdiction.

Assistant Chief Constable Lee said the force was making sure its approach was consistent across south Yorkshire.

She praised the "great courage" it takes for victims to come forward and hopes they will be able to encourage this.
