Reward offered for missing 'very rare birds'

A search is underway for two hen harriers which have gone missing, prompting the RSPB to offer a £1,000 reward for help in their recovery.

Speaking on the Today programme, head of investigations at the RSPB Bob Elliott explained that the birds had gone missing in "suspicious" circumstances:

"About a week ago we were monitoring their satellite tracking systems and two of the birds suddenly went off the radar."

"The hen harriers are very rare birds in the UK," he added.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday 25 September.
